Back To School

In the class there are 3 boys and 18 girls.(21 pupils)

We met 2 new teachers :Mrs Lebreton and Mrs Grellier.

In English, we revised how to describe ourselves.

We described  the picture page 9 of ou book, New Live 3è: Celtic connections.

We've seen the composition of the British Isles and who are the Celts.

We've seen that there are supernatural Celtic Creatures and we described the Leprechaun that are small, with a beard and a pointed nose. We've seen Roddy's hobby : going on the web site on the Leprechaun, “the Leprechaun Watch”, on www.irelandseye.com

We gave our opinion on the supernatural creatures, if we believe in them or not.

Finally we learnt how to give our opinion with the scale of probability.

And Now Jeanne's felings about  the new school year!!!

English

This year we started school on September the third!

It was a Wednesday! So we had 4 hours of lessons! It was with Mrs. Vergereau the French teacher!

The class is nice we are just 21 so that’s better than the other years when we were 26!!

During the morning we knew who our teachers were !

And at the end of the week we met them! There were 2 new teachers!

Mrs. Grellier the Spanish teacher, she is very nice!

And Mrs. Lebreton she is nice too!

At the beginning of the year, in English, we spoke about us!

So the description like the name, the age, the address,

The personality, what we like and dislike, and the physical description! We did a test about it!

After that:

First we described a picture of Galway of two girls who were playing the violin in the street during a bank holiday! They were young and they put a violin case in front of the music stand on the ground to get money!

We learnt a lot of new vocabulary!

Then:

We spoke about the Celts!

Who are they? ….

They lived until -600!

We did a chronological plank with Stone Age in -2500, Bronze Age in -2000, Iron Age -600 Roman age -50 and now soon 400! And at the end of it we did a test!

 

After we spoke about the supernatural!

-Leprechauns: Those little green creatures which live in Ireland! And are shoe-makers!

We described them and we worked on a boy “Roddy” who is quite crazy about leprechauns! He really thinks they are alive and he goes once or twice a week on the website of leprechauns to watch them!( The Leprechaun Watch, on irelandseye.com)

Afterwards everyone had to express his opinion about the supernatural (ghosts, magic, the Loch Ness Monster …)

To me magic ist possible!

But to my mind gifts are kind of supernatural and it exists because people heal me with gifts! Some people are gifted, they have some sort of power.

A FAIRY

A fairy is a supernatural creature or a spirit, that is found in the legends of many different Cultures. There are many definitions of what a fairy is. Sometimes, it is a magical creature like a gobelin or a gnome, or a creature whit short wings.

They look like a human being but they have supernatural gifts.

RED CAP

The Red Cap is one of the most dangerous supernatural creature said to haunt the castles and watchtowers of the border regions.
In appearance they are short and wiry, with ragged pointed teeth and sharp claws like steel. They wear a red bonnet on their heads, and are generally bearded with wrinkled aged faces.

It's frightening !!

SPRIGGANS

Spriggans is the name given to a family of fairies in Cornish folkore, they are the closely related to the Piskies, but were generally believed to be darker and more dangerous than their mischievous cousins. Spriggans are spiteful and full of malice. Spriggans haunt the lonely places such as castle ruins, barrows, certain standing stones and windswept crags. In appearence the Spriggans are descibed as grotesquely ugly with wirened features and crooked shiny bodies. They are big.

EACH UISGE

The Each Uisge are cretures who live in the sea and fresh water lakes. They are the most dangerous of the scottish water.The each uisge had he hability to shift shape. They can be transformed into horses or ponies to attract people. When a person comes and rides the horse, she is driven out of the deepest part but she isn't liberated because she is stuck on the creature. The person dies and the creature eats them except for the liver.

Patriot Games with Harrison Ford

The scene took place in front of Buckingham Palace where the Queen lives. There were one girl and her mother. During the time when the mother was taking a picture of the guard, the girl didn't understand why he was not moving, so she tried to do something for him to look at her when her mother said: "he is a professional soldier. It's his job not ot be distracted", and the girl stopped. The mother said to her:" Come on we're going to see Dad". They are American, so they had a map of London and the girl tried to find the good direction. Then we saw three men in a car with guns, they were speaking about killing someone, and then we watched the guard of the beginning protecting a car which was coming out of Buckingham Palace. After that, we looked at the girl and her mother again, and the Dad appeared. The two men of the car came out of nowhere and they planted a bomb under the car of the Royal Family. An American family who were on holidays in England were so scared and the dad went with the gangster took a gun and killed one of them. The two gangsters were brothers so the one who survived would like to get revenge. We suppose that it’s the IRA. The guards were walking while the audience was looking at them. The girl and her mum were walking while the two gangsters were speaking. The dad was greeting his wife and his daughter while the gangster was arriving. The American family was hiding while the gangster was killing the guard in the car. One of the gangsters was fleeing out wile the police were arresting his accomplice. The little girl was crying while her mother was looking after her husband. The girl’s dad was being taken to hospital while the gangster was changing his number plate. The gangsters were taking their weapons while the mother and her child were speaking.

The film came out on October 21st in France, and on June 6th 1992 in the United Sates. The movie was produced by Philip Noyce and it lasts 1.57h. It is an action movie, the actors are Harrison Ford, Anne Archer, Patrick Bergin, Sean Bean, Thora Birch, James Fox...

The summary of the movie:

Jack Ryan an old agent of the CIA, now gives conferences. During a stay in London with his wife and his daughter, he his the witness of an assassination attemp on Lord Holmes, the Queen Mother's cousin, by Irish terrorists. He manages to kill one of his attackers, and to catch his older brother. That one wants to kill Ryan and avenge his brother.

Harrison FORD was born  on 13 July 1942 in Chicago. His father was Irish and his mother was Russian-Jewish. He was a bad student. He abandoned school to sign a contract with Columbia Hollywood then with Universal. He shooted some movies  but his roles  were secondary. He stopped his career for a career of joiner. Four years after he returned for the movie of  American Graffiti in 1973.
Then he shooted in Star Wars in 1977 and Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981 . Four years later he received the Golden Globe and the Academy  Awards for his role in Witness in 1985. He acted in Patriot Games in 1992 . He got other Golden Globe for the Fugitive in 1993.Now he is a Hollywood superstar.

He was married twice in his life . The first time with Mary Marquardt in 1964 . He had two children with her .His second wife was Melissa Mathison ,they are divorced .
